Current News

  • We are on the move again. After two years in Prestonpans, we moved back to Port Seton on 1st July 2006.

The move is due to moving out of the recycling business to concentrate on our core customer base and no longer need the area of a factory unit.  We still have some used stock though as well as some new stock bargains which you can find on our clearance page here.

  • How about some quality add-ons for Windows XP FOR FREE?  You can with the Partner Pack from Microsoft.

Here's how - click this link for the Microsoft Partner Pack for Windows.  Download and run the update first (500k).  Depending on how up to date you are with Windows Update optional/recommended downloads this could take a while as most of the applications need Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installed.

  • Do you have a problem with SpyWare or AdWare?  You probably don't even know you have.

Go to our Antivirus page and get access to some freeware tools to find, remove and immunise against this rapidly growing threat to your internet use.  Your system and/or internet browsing has started running slower and slower, or perhaps you are constantly getting pop up ad's with "offers" you can't resist(?), maybe you've noticed that your default home page or search engine has changed and you can't change it back, your firewall keeps turning itself off.  If any of that is familiar you have an SpyWare problem.  Don't get this confused with viruses and internet worms - this is potentially much worse, as your firewall and virus scanner is likely to be ineffective against these pests.

UPDATE - Microsoft released a beta of GIANT Software's scanner only a few weeks after acquiring the company before Christmas 2004.  It is really good, works proactively and is FREE!!! (and a new version released in Jan 2006)  A link for it has been added to our Antivirus page.

  • You can get dial up and ADSL internet access through us from EntanetHighly cost effective when compared to BT and none of the hassle or delays.  There are also new "capped" transfer limited options for a new low cost.

Before you embark on the tedious process of ordering your ADSL broadband connection from BT "just because you have your phone line from them", consider these questions first - would you rather pay £39 per month for a 500Kbps service with a fixed IP address contended at 50:1 from BT, or a 1Mbps service with a fixed IP address contended at 20:1 from Entanet?  Would you also prefer to get enabled in 5 working days of ordering instead of around 9+?  Would you rather have a 12 month contract or a 1 month contract?  All of these are really "no brainers" aren't they???  Each connection also comes with 10 email addresses with forwarding and unlimited aliases, or you can opt for a single "catch all" mailbox if you run your own server to sort incoming mail.

Check the Entanet site for the latest offers and then order painlessly and efficiently through us by clicking on this link.

As well as Entanet services, we are now authorised resellers for the complete Entacall range of services too!!  This means that we can provide you with 0800, 0870, 0871, 0845 & 0905 numbers for FREE or for just a fraction of the cost that BT charge.  Also in the portfolio are 0870 fax-to-email services, Least Cost Routing of calls (saving an average of 62%), Audio Conferencing, and Virtual PBX facilities (also see VPBX functions here).  We can arrange new PSTN and ISDN lines too, or arrange to transfer your lines to Entacall.  They don't outsource their call centre calls to some far off land either, and you won't have to call in on more than one number should you have a problem.

Click on the links above for further info on each of these services and you can order from us by clicking on this link.

From our point of view as a reseller, both of these companies have been a joy to deal with - simple, straightforward and exceptionally speedy.  For example, after giving up with BT after the unbelievable hassle over relocating our broadband, it only took 4 days from order to active with Entanet and not a single phone call required - faster and less expensive too (see above).  Our 0870 fax-to-email service was active an incredible 2 hours after placing the order.

There is a standard and a premium edition.  The modem sharing service that was included with the 2000 version is gone, but Windows SharePoint Services is in, running on Windows Server 2003 with Exchange Server 2003 and the Shared Fax Service together with the vastly improved Outlook 2003 messaging client.  The premium edition adds ISA and SQL Server 2000 plus FrontPage 2003.  It is absolutely fantastic value for money - especially the OEM versions supplied with new hardware - and makes running a server for very small businesses or even a home network affordable!  ** Note service pack 1 is now available **

Buying direct means low initial hardware cost, but you have to do all the time consuming work getting it to work, acquiring service packs, security fixes, and update patches.  Also the support you receive from the large direct sales can often lead you to repeat this process all over again if your hardware is replaced under warranty or your software needs re-installed! Buying from a VAR generally means this painful process is taken care of before the system is delivered, providing you with a reliable system straight out of the box and making you instantly more productive.  Contact us on how to get control your business information more efficiently and securely.  We can supply you with the equipment and support you need from our new desktop & server range here.

Over 5 million businesses worldwide use QuickBooks!  See the latest information here - even more report options and a remote access feature on the Premier version to save costs by cutting down on visits by your accountant (what doesn't it do?), then contact us for sales, installation and configuration assistance.  We can even help with basic training, but please note that we are network specialists and not accountants specific accounts based queries should be directed to your usual accountancy firm.

There is a new brochure available which details all the new features added to this incredible system which has a multitude of uses.  The current brochure is available in the products section.  The new additional facilities include camera pan, tilt and zoom control, up to 360Gb of RAID 5 storage, SSL IP communications, RS485 bus to increase camera quantity and reduce cabling complexity, plus faster frame rates.

Read about other ways to use this versatile system which have nothing to do with security or surveillance.

If you have looked at the LookC Pro IX before and it would be a benefit for your premises but thought it was too big or you don't need so many cameras - this could be just what you are looking for!! Mid 2003 saw the introduction of the 4x4, a much smaller version supporting  up to 4 cameras as standard, expandable to 16.  Just think about it - the monitoring and recording flexibility of the Pro IX in a smaller more affordable package.  Ideal for smaller offices, shops, garages, factory premises or homes.  Contact us for more details on this exciting product.

Whether it is to provide easier and more flexible connection to your network or simply because wiring your building is too difficult, the Cisco Systems family of interfaces, access points, bridges and antenna's is the most comprehensive and secure solution available - it works!  Looking for fast lower cost alternatives for smaller businesses?  The D-Link range of 802.11G wireless devices go as high as 108Mbps!!

  • Windows Server 2003 SP1, Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2, SBS 2000 SP1a, SBS 2003 SP1, SQL 2000 SP4, Exchange Server 2000 SP3, Exchange 2003 SP2, ISA 2000 SP2, ISA 2004 sp1 Office 2003 sp2, etc.

All the current service packs released by Microsoft, plus all the information you need on keeping Microsoft products secure with the latest hot fixes.

WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) is now available!  This is the successor to SUS (Software Update Services - which will cease to be supported from June 2006) but does so much more.  Get it here.

Keep up to date with Windows/Office update, (or use the newer integrated MICROSOFT UPDATE which does BOTH) install a virus scanner, keep it regularly updated and install/enable a firewall on your internet connection.  You are doing all this already - aren't you?  If any of that doesn't make sense contact us to help you before it's too late and your PC is compromised.
